Tips to avoid Dark Circles

Tired eyes will sometimes look dark around the eyes and pale which catches lot of attention. To put the sparkle back, one must pay much attention to rest the eyes and rejuvenate them so that the dark circles pale out and the eyes are bright and lively. Such fatigued eyes can always be taken care with few easy-do-at-home remedies.
- Drink two glasses of cranberry and black grape juice, 2-3 times a week. You will need to do this for at least a week before you start noticing a difference.
- Food allergies and sensitivities play a major role in under-eye circles. People who are allergic to high protein diet should be careful while ingesting egg, shellfish, prawn, crab and mussels.
- Vitamin K cream helps to diminish dark under eye circles.
- Home remedies
The most common are cucumbers and tea bags remedy. Place fresh cut cucumber slices on your closed eyes and lie down for 20 minutes. 2-3 repetitions in a week.
Keep luke warm / 20 minutes chilled teabags on closed eyes and lie down for 20 minutes. This should be done 2-3 times a week.
Another trick is to put two tablespoons in the freezer for few minutes and apply on the eyes for few seconds, until they are warm. Re-apply if necessary.
- Dark circles may be caused by inflamed or enlarged veins beneath the skin. Blend fistful of fresh Cilantro (coriander), Mint and Tulsi with a glass of warm water. Drink it directly without straining on empty stomach for 3 weeks. Results would be pleasing.
- Wear sunscreen under your eyes, and if you wear it all the time(as you should), try to put a stronger spf under your eyes than you do on your face. This way, the skin under your eyes does not darken as quickly as the rest of your face; so your circles seem lighter.
- Try eye exercises. It can rejuvenate your periorbital skin (skin around upper and lower lid of eye) by improving blood circulation.
- Have plenty of fruits minimum 2 helping per day and 2 – 3 liters of water along with daily vitamins and minerals.
- Always consult your dermatologist to get individualized attention.
Puffiness of the eyes with dark circles are sometimes found in people with history of kidney problem e.g. kidney stones, Nephrotic syndrome. In such cases better to get examined and advised by attending physician.
